Darlene Dunn has been living within the Ohio 46th House District since graduating from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1976
Darlene and her husband, Cary Dunne, have been home owners in this House District since 1980. Darlene’s two sons both went to schools in this House District as well. Darlene knows, empathizes with, and cares about the people of our House District 46 suburbs.

While at University of Toledo College of Law, Darlene participated in the Civil Law Clinic, received the Constitutional Law Jurisprudence Award, was a founding member of La Raza Organization at the College of Law, and got her start participating in progressive and Democratic Party political campaigns.

Her first job after law school was to spend seven years as an Assistant Lucas County Prosecutor working under Tony Pizza and along side current County Prosecutor Julia Bates. While Darlene was working in the Juvenile Prosecutors Office, she was recruited to run for state representative against the several term incumbent, Irma Karmol in 1978. Although the odds against her winning were quite high, Darlene proved to be a hard-working, intelligent, enthusiastic and popular candidate.

Since Darlene’s first candidacy, she has been active in the Lucas County Bar Association (of which she is on the Board of Directors). She has raised two sons, Rob and Brian, who did their part to help Darlene become more committed the our area as she also became a soccer mom, a basketball mom, a football mom and even spelling bee mom. Darlene has served within many volunteer organizations focused on areas of importance like schools, church, healthcare, women’s issues, parks, seniors and the arts. She has maintained a varied law practice and has helped work on a number of successful campaigns, most recently for Governor Ted Strickland.

Darlene was asked again to run for State Representative of this area by several state and local office holders concerned about the future of our prospects for economic development, education for our kids and reeducation for our manufacturing workforce, protecting and enjoying our environment and our water resources, and making Northwest Ohio an even better place to raise our families.
